Brac Autumn Festival celebrates Caymanian culture through arts

Smiling faces were plentiful on the Brac Oct. 30 and 31 during a special weekend of artistic expression in celebration of the Caymanian way of life.

Brac Autumn Festival offers cultural cornucopia

The second Brac Autumn Festival brought a variety of arts and cultural events celebrating Cayman’s creative community.

The festival took place over the Oct. 14 weekend, kicking off on Friday with a Cultural Arts Fair at the home of Dan and Lisa Scott in the Creek, formerly known as the historic Spellman McLaughlin house.

Poetry wasn’t the only item on the menu at last weekend’s Brac Autumn Fest.  Cayman 27’s Joe Avary traveled to the Brac last weekend to enjoy the food, music, and fun under the stars.

Brackers fall in love with autumn festival

Cayman Brac kicked off the beginning of fall with a host of activities that residents enjoyed over the three-day weekend of Oct. 6 to 8.

The Cayman Arts Culture and Heritage Brac Autumn Festival featured an open mic night, canvas night, teen poetry and children’s art event at the museum, a cultural arts fair and a “Falling in Love with Fall” at the home of Dan and Lisa Scott.

Coat of arms road show visits Sister Islands

The Cayman Islands coat of arms road show has crossed the water to the Sister Islands, where islanders and visitors on Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are learning about the 60-year history of the national symbol.

The coat of arms was featured prominently at the Cayman Brac Heritage Autumn Festival earlier this month

Brackers celebrate heritage with autumn festival

Tourists and locals got a taste of island culture at the weekend when they attended the Brac Heritage Autumn Festival at Heritage House on Saturday.

Local artists, young people and various organisations showed up to take part in the festivities, which included steel pan playing by Layman Scott High School students, a craft display, singing, a fashion show, rope making, caboose cooking, hat sewing, artifact displays, a flower show and plenty of tasty local food.
